Thanks again for your time Joe.
Sure thing. Why is it I have the docs, but no software, and you have the
software and no docs? :)
One of these days, LW 4.0 will come out for the Amiga (I hope...) and then
I'll get to play with it, but until then...
Maybe if you do a "Create Key for Selected Item & Children" function then
it'll creat keys for the objects in there new positions. Based on what
you said, I'm guessing that the IK is an animation aid, rather than a
direct function. This actaully makes it MORE powerful -- you're not
constrained to using IK, but can switch back & forth.
Here's something to try: (tip from a 3DS user)
Make the Upper/Lower legs, feet and torso of a person/robot. Parent
everything apporpriatly, then place Goal Nulls at the feet. Then, say at
frame 15, drag the left foot's goal forward about .5 meters, create a key,
then move the right foot ahead of the left by about 1.5 meters, and create
a key at frame 30. Move the body at the same rate as the feet, and make a
preview. It should look like a body moving and shuffling it's feet -- the
body should even tip a little to the sides as he steps. If you raise the
feet during frames 8 (Left) and 22 (right), he should actaully WALK!!! All
that in about 5 mins. Ain't IK great?
The reason I want to know about sliding joints is because I AM making an
ED-209-type robot. Standard Kinematics is a little hard to do this
with... Guess I'll have ti mix'em... Oh, well... Any Sliding Joints,
Allen? ;)
